new Logitech mouse scrolls funny, like screen "slips", or screen has 'weight' that needs to come to stop. Some extra random unasked for scrolling, here and there.

IIRC this was also the case on the other Logitech keyboard/mouse combo (2023 model) that I returned in favor or 'classic' 2017 full size keyboard combo.

Cheap-o "Perixx" mouse is rock-solid and perfectly steady on same system, same settings.

I've got it set to "scroll multi lines" and the lowest "3 lines at a time" and on fairly low cursor speeds. Both mice used on same pads.

Any clues? I'd like to keep the Logitech because its got the extra side buttons and speed adjust button and is supposed to be top tier brand.

Which mouse is it? Some have a variable scroll wheel that will just zoom if you flick it up/ down, or you can press one of the buttons and it scrolls with detents.

could be defective...

Go into settings - hardware - mouse- see if any other settings can be tweaked?

also try a different surface... might not be reading your mouse pad for some reason

What model is it? Are you keeping it flat on the desk? Laser mouses (and some others) kind of suck and will kind of “fling” if you lift the mouse at all off the surface.
