Alternative to Ring Doorbell

We've had an uptick in homeless and weird activity in my area so it's time for surveillance.

I bought a Ring for my parents a few years ago and I've had problems with it. Not only the unit but the app as well. So before I go down that road again I wanted to see if any of you had a suggestion for a good home protection camera.

What do you suggest?

I’ve had good luck with the Eufy doorbell cam. Probably going to upgrade it to their dual camera model.

Surveillance is good, but really think about hardening your perimiter. Window locks, door locks, anti kick in plates on the doors, etc. It wont stop someone from throwing a brick through a window, but most thiefs these days seem to going for the soft, easy, quiet targets.

I?ve had good luck with the Eufy doorbell cam. Probably going to upgrade it to their dual camera model.

I have a Eufy doorbell cam and the dual cam model. They work great but the dual is much better. I also run Eufy solar charging cameras all over my property. I started putting them up over a year ago and have never had to charge them. The save all captured video to their base station. I put a 1 TB hard drive in it and have only used a fraction of the space.

I think Ring is pretty stabil. I think Wyze sucks.
I vote change things up and install Arlo Cams.

The problem with Ring is the hardware is not reliable. I went through a few Ring Pros before I refused to spend anymore money on them and then switched to Eufy. The Rings either just up and die or the wifi radio stops working. With Eufy I haven't had to replace one yet and I have them all over my house.

I've had a Ring more many, many years with no issues. It is mounted out of the sun and in a recessed entry though.

I've had the Nest doorbell and the security cam. Both integrate to the app pretty nicely and the video quality is decent in bright light. Night time sucks just like every other video cam. Biggest issue I have is with the latency. it's a good 10-15 seconds between the event and when I get notification on my app. The good part is that you get gifs with the notification so you can see if its just a cat or someone walking up your driveway. It also has facial recognition (it's ok, but not 100%).

I had my mom on Ring and it was awful. It ONLY recorded once it detected motion. Sometimes you'd miss the first 5-10 seconds so, you'd only get the backside of whomever was at your door. Not good. I don't know if they updated the software to fix that problem or not. Video quality was good as was the audio.

I have Eufy for a couple years now. It works. None of that subscription crap.

Probably not much of a stretch to upgrade that from a paintball gun to semiauto rifle.

Weird. Everyone I know uses Ring and never had a problem. One was installed on our house when we bought it and it's still going strong. Was on the house for years before we bought it.

Let us know what you get and how you like it. I'm not loyal to ring.

Blink from Costco. Works awesome, completely wireless and notifies you when not at home if it goes off AND while you're gone, you can see a live view of any of the cameras on your phone.
