Memory? Where do you buy more memory?

Friend is picking up a new costco PC and wanted to go to 32gb.

I've swapped out memory on other machines so I said it should be fairly easy on a PC.

I've purchased all over the place over the years.

I know frys & tigerdirect are gone.

Any new sites I should search?

For non gaming, any preferred brands?

    Newegg or amazon?

I'll ask, is there a lot of fake memory?

Can amazon be trusted or will I get a counterfeit?

I use Amazon. Just finished a PC for a friend. Bought everything except the cabinet from Amazon. Used his old one.

Thought I had a memory problem. Bought a different brand. Still had problem. Turned out to be a mobo problem. Returned the 2nd set of memory. No questions asked.

Newegg or Amazon. (I usually go Amazon because of the easier return policy ). Sometimes prebuilts can be finicky with mixing ram sticks so you can also check Crucial for certified to work with whatever prebuilt it is. But that?s usually a Dell or HP or ACER issue (or was in the past ) because of their more locked down bios?s.

Amazon is fine but avoid that A-Tech crap they try to push. I don't know that I've come across counterfeit stuff on there for RAM, only flash memory (SD cards, etc). Otherwise crucial.com is a standard go to.

Verify the type of memory already being used if you're just adding and verify you have open slots for it. If you need to go with all new RAM, get the best performance for the motherboard being used.

Whichever reputable site is cheapest. Sometimes Best Buy in store or online has comparable prices on sale.

I have bought RAM direct from both Kingston and Crucial. Not sure if they do that any longer, but it's worth a shot. Unsure if there will be any savings, but why use the middleman if you do not have to?

I've always had good experiences with Crucial.

Be wary of 3rd party sellers that Walmart, Amazon other big names allow to sell on their sites. Not only maybe counterfeit, but return policy will be bad.

About 1/3 of ads on Google are scams, and if I can detect that without even clicking on them, what does that say about these Google people that want to tamper with our elections. I assume Twitter and Facebook are similar.

I don't trust newegg like I used. Between 3rd party vendors on there and from all the customer service horror stories the last few years I'd personally avoid it.
B&H photo video has computer components. That would be my first choice these days if their somewhat limited selection of computer hardware still has what you need.
I've never bought from micro center but I've always heard good things.

Make sure you get the correct RAM.
