    Cut The Cable. DVR Experiences

    Cancelled DirecTV
Live six miles from the mountain based transmitters in a large metropolitan region with lots of OTA stations

Has all the old shows I like. McGuiver, A-Team, Original Hawaii 5-0, et al and Networks come in crystal clear

Grew up with commercials so I'm used to them. Gives me time to go to the head or get something to drink.

Anyone have experience with a DVR using a pre existing antenna?

Not one with a built in antenna.

All seem expensive and require a subscription service which kind of negate the point of cutting the cord.

Last year I finally ditched cable. I already had a TIVO connected to the cable. Since I mostly stream with Amazon and Netflix I just got a cheap basic antenna from Amazon. It's worked OK with the TIVO. There are a lot of free channels the little antenna doesn't pick up and it would be better to get a larger one mounted on the roof. I'll probably do that eventually.

I’ve been using a TiVO OTA dvr for 5+ years now. Works great. Wait for one of their sales and get the lifetime pre paid guide update and not the monthly subscription.
