    Wyze camera V2 firmware update

Won't update. I updated the app ... still no go.

Tried the manual method by loading firmware onto microSD card but no go - never get the blue light as per instructions.

    The customer support is lacking.

    No error codes.

    Annoying.

I think I also have a v2 stuck like that. I replaced all my v2 with v3 though, the difference in image quality is huge especially at night or low light.

I keep a box of v2 around only for special projects or pet cams when I need to be away for awhile, so it doesn't bother me that one is a firmware gimp. I have not tried to hack on it too hard to see if I can fix it yet.

Don't upgrade any Wyze product unless it is under warranty. If it bricks, you are SOL. The only time I buy an extended warranty is for a Wyze product. About 8 bucks for two years.

Well well. Finally got the firmware updated.

Seems the issue fir me was microSD card was greater than 32GB. Used a 32GB card and the latest firmware and it finally worked via the manual update procedure.

Fingers crossed it fixes my original issue with intermittent connectivity.

I upload RTSP firmware on my Wyze cameras, which appears to no longer be available online. Given the low price point, I consider these to be throwaway cameras. Pretty good quality for the price, so they make good dog, bird, fish and tortoise cams.

Glad you finally got it working. I think the tech support (spies) in China were done laughing at you thru the cameras. JK. I have Nest cams and have a live hate relationship with them. If I had to do it all over again and with more money, I would?ve gone with a hardwired system.

Camera has been working fine for a few days so looking good.

I like the idea of remote access over the net versus a hardwired solution.

I'm not kidding myself - cameras give a false sense of security. They really provide nothing unless there is a prompt armed resoponse.

On the Wyze forums, Wyze does not refer to their cams as "security cams." Like Older than Dirt said, they make good pet cams. I use mine to check for mail/deliveries and the various critters that visit the yard.

I needed to replace a bricked Wyze Outdoor Cam but bought Blink battery cams instead. 6 cams and 2 sync modules for about $200 on Amazon. Picture and wifi connectivity about the same as Wyze. The Blink app and Wyze app don't operate the same way, but not a big deal so far. Blink advertises their products as "security cams" but they aren't. For monitoring purposes, they are even worse than Wyze.
