    Canon MP250 Printer Issue

Have a cheap little Canon MP250 Printer that has gradually started printing light despite it showing just a little under half remaining in the black ink cartridge. I've tried running the print head cleaning routines in the software but noticed no improvement. I don't use the printer much - this cartridge is probably going on three years old. Figured that I would ask for advice here before I throw $30 at a new cartridge.

You leave it in a sunny area or hot area? Dry out? Could take it out and carefully shake it and see. That or the stamp is dirty/dry

Ink jets need regular usage. I have had problems with HP, Canon and Epson.

Gave up and went with a Brother laser printer/scanner. I may print once a week but it always prints.

If you let inkjets sit a long time the ink can get gummed up especially 3rd party ink. And often there is no cleaning it. If the self clean doesn't clean it I usually toss the printer. A set of ink is just too expensive to throw at a printer that may never unclog.

Laser is my primary printer. We keep an inkjet around for fun stuff like tattoos for kids, iron-ons, photos etc

Looking at the Brother HL-L2390DW as I almost never print anything in color. Reviews seem good and $160 works for my limited budget.

The one real downside to inkjet is you have to run them at least once a week or the print head can dry out or become non functional. And the cleaning routines won?t help if the print head has become disabled.

Buy a new print head if you can (not too expensive ) and print at least a page or two a week.

A cheap laser printer (or all in one ) is a much better choice for occasional printing. Toner carts and drums don?t care how long they sit in between uses.
