    New MacBook Air 15" M2

I was due for a new system as my other MacBook was over 9 years old but still working except for a little crackle in one of the speakers.

As an ex Apple employee I can say that this new model is definitely a great option instead of going to the Mac Book Pro and spending that much cash.

Fast, beautiful screen, easy to move around and was a breeze using the migration assistant to move over all my data from the old one. If your in the market for a laptop give it a look, it's worth the extra cost to me since I have all other Apple hardware already.

Yeah I'm not a fanboy per se, but I like them better than the alternatives. Pretty easy to use. I bought my macbook air 3 years ago and it's going strong. I don't need much other than browsing, music applications, photos etc... pretty basic stuff. Works for me. My only complaint is storage but with the need for multiple backups nowadays anyways, I end up with more than enough room.

Just picked up the 13.6 M2 because I wanted a small screen. As my first Apple, I really like it.

Thanks for the tip; I'm in the same boat mainly due to Catalina no longer being supported by Intuit for Turbotax. Online is still an option but doing a business return online is a nightmare compared to on the desktop. Kudos to the MBP though, over ten years of solid function. I still have a functioning 7100/66 from the early 90's running in the office in Oregon. Apple until dead

Awesome. I didn't know they made a 15" version now.

I'm still rockin my 13" Macbook air I bought new is 2010. Still runs like a champ except the battery lasts like a half an hour. I haven't updated it in a couple of years out of fear that the latest OS will be to resource heavy to run properly.

I find it far superior than my old 15" Pro but there is a huge difference in the age so that's a hard comparison, but the difference in hardware is really noticeable. Steve would have been proud.

Is the M2 chip as good as they say? My Mac is still on an intel chip. I've thought about upgrading.

My $129 3 year old chrome book still processes words, opens files, and gives me a spreadsheet. I can even browse calguns and foxnews with it.

The speed is pretty amazing, so far I am really liking the entire system. Especially since they brought back the mag connector for the ac adapter.

                      DaveinOroValley -

I got one too. Battery life + speed are impressive. Great display,
and far better audio than the MBA M1.

I do wish Apple would have...
                      - socketed flash drive for storage upgrade
                      - additional USBC ports or even 1 regular fullsize USB port
                      - HDMI or DP out

                      Glad they brought MagSafe back!

I guess that's the 2K dollar difference from the Pro to this one, but I do agree the Air has very limited inputs for sure but for what I need it's fine. I bought the two cables that pretty much allow me to connect whatever I have to it and they work seamlessly. The HDMI or DP out would be the exception though.

                        No second monitor etc.

I've got the 14" M2 MacBook Pro, 16 gigs of RAM, 500 gig SSD. Added a Samsung T7 Shield portable 4TB SSD with USB-C. I like it although for nearly 2 grand it should be good. Bought my wife an M1 MacBook Air last year for half the price of mine. For what she does, it's fine. She wouldn't even notice the difference between the M1 and the M2.

It?s good but it?s not a super big improvement over the M1. You can get an M1 and have the same real world usage for non intensive stuff and save your self a bit of money. That being said it only matters if you are looking at the air 13. I?d want a 15 anyway so that?s M2 no matter what for that or any of the Mac Pros.

I have to say the M1\M2 is quite impressive for capability and how little power they use and heat they generate. No one can touch apple for that. But aside of that, in terms of what you get for your money there are windows machines that are as or more powerful with more memory and storage for less money. Of course you are in the windows universe then. Still a couple of the mobile AMD CPUS and 12th and 13 gen Intel have more horsepower and are fairly power efficient as well.

I actually think the M1/M2 is more impressive for the iPad format. You can have something quite powerful in a more compact package than a laptop. There’s even fewer similar options from anyone else in that arena.

That?s really neither here nor there. I can do all that on my 10 year old PC. Does it just fine. But it would choke trying to do any basic photo editing or compiling or anything intensive at all.

Pretty much anything decent built in the last 10 years can do basic internet and word processing.
