    Annoying popup "warnings"...

I recently started getting these pop-up massages warning about multiple viruses, hacking, etc. If I click on the close button, or anywhere in the popup, it opens a webpage that gets blocked by ESET. An ESET scan doesn't find any malware.
Is anyone getting this and how do I get rid of it?

Get an ad blocker, i. e. Adblock, Ghostery (both free), and don't click on it.

Go to Task manager and close the process for that window. Bigger concern is why are you getting them.

I agree that the bigger concern is why you are getting them. This hints that your computer is already infected with malware. Try doing this:

              1. Go to www.malwarebytes.com and download the "for home" version, install and then do a full system scan. You can use the free version.

              2. After Malwarebytes is done, do a second scan using HitmanPro at https://www.hitmanpro.com/en-us/hmp. You can use the 30 day free version.

              3. Wait for the HitmanPro scan to complete and then install an adblocker. It looks like you are using Chrome. I recommend the Chrome Extension "uBlock Origin" from the Chrome Web Store.

Is McAfee anti-virus installed on your computer? I would check into this first and if it is, and you are running another anti-virus program, I would try to uninstall McAfee.

Thank you for all the suggestions; I'll try everything.

Tried Task Manager but the list of things running is so ambiguous that I can't tell what's necessary and what's causing the problem.

Typically, if it just happened, it should be near the top. Might be closing 2 or 3 things before you get the one you want if the description is not clear.

This has nothing to do with McAffe. OP’s browser or computer is infected with malware. The steps I posted previously should’ve remedied the situation.

Thanks, Malwarebytes seems to have done the trick. 👍
