    CFARS login problems

Well, I couldn?t remember the name of the street my 3rd grade teacher pet turtle lived on or my dad?s brother?s best friend?s nickname in college so they locked my account. I sent an email to support last week but no response. Has anyone had to deal with this? How did you get it resolved? It?s like they?ll do anything to make it difficult to comply.

I?ve had this happen. I hate ?secret questions?. Especially when they choose them and give you odd choices. And it only takes a few attempts to lock.

No choice but to call and have them unlock it live on the phone afaik.

      CFARS login problems

These are taken from your credit reports, and yeah, apparently I DO have a historical attachment to several cities I never even heard of.

The addresses of the third-party tax preparers my company used when I lived overseas became part of my record.

My kids' college addresses keep getting assigned to me. Partly my responsibility, as I could have named them something different from "Librarian II".

I abhor those security questions. I use LastPass and create a "Secure Note" with the questions and answers. That way, if I get stumped, I just look up the
"note" and entre the correct response.

If you have a different password manager, you may be able to do something similar.
          -P

Sounds like you need a password manager like KeePass.

With your current problem, not much. But a pw manager would help prevent this from happening in the future.

You would store secrets (like security questions and answers) in the password manager.

That?s a little like closing the barn door after the horses escaped.

IDK that I trust those things.

There are risks with any option. You can always just go with writing stuff down on post-it notes or a notebook in your drawer. Different risk acceptance.

I just spent 20 minutes on hold last week and they got it straightened out at the DOJ.

Not a real fan of password managers. Sure if somebody can find my post it note, but it?s not an app that some TikTok Chinese hacker could get everybody?s password with at once.
