            ***UPDATE*** Issue resolved

Tried to redeem the coupon this morning. Not enough characters provided for the product key. SCAM!

Filed a dispute with my CC company. Did I just lose $51.98?

            **************

I filed a complaint. The company sent me the complete product key. I was able to download the installer and was able to activate the subscription. Wasn't $40 but still a good deal. Costco has the same item for $250 and a student/home version for $150 that only includes Word, Powerpoint, and Excel.

                Lifetime of the production version...

If M$ decides to sunset 2021, then while one will still be able to use the program/application, one will not get any updates nor patches, etc. It is not also a guarantee that the next generation of WinOS would support 2021, albeit, a long long time.

I bought two copies of surplus sealed physical boxes of OFFICE PRO 2019.
Genuine but paid $50 each and are updateable

The first version of Office I used was v 4.0 on Win 3.1 way back when.

The last 'boxed' version was Office Pro 2010. Now I use Microsoft 365 (was Office 365).

I still have MS Front Page 2003 (web dev app) on this machine, and it even works well with Win 10, which surprises me.

You folks sure said it. LibreOffice is great stuff and doesn't have the problems of Microsoft's offering. I've been using it since OpenOffice.org 641B (the Beta version) and fell in love with it even back then.

The license, the GNU GPL, is lifetime, meaning as long as the software continues to exist anywhere, you're free to use and enjoy it, on any computer, anywhere. That's software freedom.

Yup, I went from OpenOffice to LibreOffice due to better support. As I said Libre Office is free but you can donate, as I have done in the past, to keep it going.

Yes, and you get what you pay for. Libre is fine for the casual office user, but if you need the advanced features of MS Office, which, like it or not is still the gold standard, Libre falls short.

Easy decision for me though, I get Office 365 and Office Pro for free through work. But I would still pay for the Office suite for home if I didn't have that luxury. Last perpetual license I purchased was Office Pro 2016 for $10.
