While LO can open docs and xlxs files it cannot open Access databases. And it does not appear to offer an Outlook equivalent.

Actually, it turns out that you can open MS Access databases in LibreOffice, using the JDBC connector.

Hello, @taybee, I have re-opened this question because I have discovered a way to connect LO Base 64-bit with Access in Windows 10 (guessing other versions should work). Not having used Windows for years (with rare exception to test on an old 32-bit system) I never got to test this process. Was able to do so on a Win 10 Home 64-bit system using LO v5.3.x 64-bit. On my Linux Mint18.3 system I use a connector UCanAccess (website here) to connect to Access DB’s. Turns out this same connector w...

I have a .accdb file created with Microsoft Office 2010 and I want to know if it is possible to open it with some native Ubuntu application like LibreOffice or OpenOffice, I know LibreOffice has

Access, jdbc, driver, Java, mdb, accdb, ms, linux, unix, mac, pure

As for a MS Outlook equivalent, Evolution is stellar. I was actually using it in a "Microsoft shop" to get my MS Exchange Server email. Yes, you read that right! Actually, I found Evolution, somewhat to my surprise, to be even a bit better than MS Outlook.

So, the combination of LibreOffice and Evolution may well serve your needs. It's worth giving it a fair shot.

I appreciate your input. I barely know enough to get the Access to work. I have no idea what JDBC is. I am comfortable with what I know. I already purchased and installed Office on the new machine.

I?m an old fart set in my ways.

          Hopefully you’re gtg.
Hopefully Microsoft won’t realize in a year it was pirated and disable Office
Although there are ways around that, that will also disable further updates

          Many cheaper and similar alternatives

I am very anti-subscription, however I finally got sick of Libre Office & OpenOffice Glitches, and got suckered into the Office 365 Family. Office for up to 5 accounts, and 1TB of OneDrive (I really only use OneDrive to store ISOs/backups of VMs, not pics, and a couple dox), and on multiple computers (more than one per user, but I am not sure if they can all be used at the same time, for the same account, not Family member accounts, they are separate)/

It's $99/year for up to 5 accounts (yours and "family"), and I hate it, but I will always be current on Office now, and the option to use OneDrive as a lillypad is helpful, especially with 1TB per user.
