Rate my first build in 10 years

I have not built anything since I was a founder of Mechwarrior online. Looking to build something for MS Flight sim in 4k. Any critiques are welcome.

Looks good. 13th gen Intel CPUs are out now though. The mobo description says up to 12th gen. It may support it, but check to be sure if you're going that route. Also if it were me, I'd double the RAM to 64GB.

A 13th Gen i5 will top that build off nicely. Just need to do a bios flashback.

Doing 4k, the processor is not as big a factor since it will be GPU driven at that level.

I use this site when I do builds. It let you choose parts, keep track of your parts choice and prices. I found it to be very helpful.

Just remember to save your link, so you can track it.

Nvidia GPUs outperform AMD GPUs pretty much across the board. Something to consider. Also Ryzen 9 CPUs are out now, and you can get a 7950x for less than I bought my 5950x a year and a half ago, and they're absolute beasts.

If you are not going to configure anything out of the ordinary: over-clocking, water cooling, raid, LED/RGB lights, etc...You can save a lot of buying something pre-built from the bigger builders (when on sale). They last long enough these days.

What ever you build or buy today, it's already outdated and lost a lot of value. Save the money for the next machine.

On topic to the build: The Intel K processor does not come with a cooler.

You should have a pretty nice system when you're done. Some great specs.

+1 for Central Computers (they also have locations in SJ, Newark and San Mateo).

IIRC, they also price match Newegg/Amazon (as least they did in the past), so long as they (Central Computers) have the item in stock.

That's one hell of a build!

Hope you get a good cooler on that CPU; MS Flight Sim really taxes your CPU.

+1 on the cooler advice. I use one of those AIO liquid coolers. Just make sure the case can accommodate the radiator size.

What kind of cooler are you going to use? There are some water coolers that use two or three 120mm fans in a row. I don't see a spot in that case where such a cooler would be mountable.

I am assuming you are not planning on having an optical drive. Personally I like to have one to rip CDs, play music, burn discs, etc. I don't see any 5 1/4 bays in that case.

Also with a 5 1/4" bay, you can install one of these hot swapable hard drive bays. That makes backups very easy.
