    Switch vendor on cellular iPad

Switching cellular vendors on my iPad. Is it as simple as switching the SIM? There is a phone number associated with the current Verizon SIM. Do I have to got through the transfer phone routine like with a cellphone?

Assuming you're like everyone else and you only use your cellular iPad for surfing the internet... yes you can just swap out the SIM.

No need to transfer your iPad phone number to the new provider.... changing the phone number has no effect on your internet surfing capability. You're not receiving phone calls on it, right?

      I switched from T-Mobile to Verizon. $10/mo.

New SIM card. I don’t remember if the number was even discussed.

If you have a plan, you need to cancel or they will keep charging you even if you are not using it.

For phone and iPad my Verizon plan just went up $6. I have 3 gb of data combined and very seldom go one 1. For this I pay $86.

My cell is used to receive calls, texts and email. No watching movies or massive outgoing texts. iPad on cell is used only when out of house.

My phone is locked to Verizon and is a S10+. Unlocked S22+ is arriving tomorrow. Time for a new one, anyway.

Anyone moved a phone number from 1 vendor to another without help from a salesperson?

Doh! Thanks for that. I thought my bill looked a little high. It was only $5 but it all counts!

Swap the SIM or use the esim. We have a corporate account so our mobiles guy just does it on the website. We swap out carriers all the time depending on where the jobsite is. Different carriers have better or worse service depending on where it is. Don't trust those coverage maps. They are BS.

I am under the impression I need new SIMS as the current ones are tied to Verizon. Which I am leaving.

New phone almost set up. SIMs arrive tomorrow.

Samsung/Android now mimic Apple. Put old and new devices close to each other and most stuff gets transferred.

I don’t understand why I have 4-5 bars of cell signal. There is no SIM. Whose signal is it measuring?

You are correct. Different carriers have their own SIMs (unless using ESIM). Hell, even Verizon has different SIMs depending on what you are doing. I have 2 different ones on my desk right now... We can slap 2 in one of the devices we have so I put them both in and we are testing to see if the service quality/speed is any different between the two using the same mobile router and antenna.
