    TV screen Vs computer monitor

I know a TV screen will work for a PC

What is the real difference between a PC monitor and TV?

Looking to get a larger monitor for work from home?

Usually the consistency and defect level of the panel and sharpness, color gamut calibration.

Larger displays are much harder to keep to consistent quality and generally have controller chips that are slower and less capable than their monitor counterparts.

This isn’t always the case, but a general rule. That being said, I use a Samsung 49” QLED as my desktop display running 4K@120 Hz, and it’s fine, although there is color bleed at the edges and zone dimming makes for uneven illumination at times.

Modern TV's have come a long way, with improvements every year. I currently use a 42" TV at 1920x1080, and I sit about 8 feet away from the screen. Works well for me.

I recently picked up the LG monitor you mentioned from Costco. Definitely worth the coin, especially for the specs it pumps out.

Generally a TV will have a TV tuner and audio built in.
Also things like latency/response time are quicker on a monitor.

Pixels, panel quality, light sourcing, dmax, processing, etc. A spectraphotometer slapped on a TV vs a decent monitor will show vastly different results. For 98% of end users though, other than a possibly more "fuzzy" looking picture, there is no difference. I used to run a graphics department and we had to calibrate all the monitors and use profiles, etc. The gamut on a decent monitor is quite a bit larger than a normal TV. The "monitor" I'm using right now is simply a 43" 4K TV. Works just fine. Use some software like Actual Multiple Monitors to chop it up into multiple virtual monitors for arranging things. I have mine as 4 equal sized monitors.

A TV screen is much better.

It really depends on what TV you are looking at or what monitor you are looking at.

In general monitors do not have built in tuners or speakers and usually Have faster refresh rates. However there are plenty of HDTVs now that can work as well as a good monitor

Then gamers would use a monitor for the response time. For me, since I'm doing general computing (office productivity, Web browsing, some audio/video work), a TV like you see at Costco works very nicely. I can recommend the Vizio and LG brands from personal experience.

I use a 55" as my PC monitor. Can have 9 or so open windows ill never go back to the 5 small screens I had before.

TV's have tuners Monitors do not.

If you are doing any work that requires accurate color across a wide gamut, you'll need a monitor, preferably one that can be calibrated.

I have been using NEC monitors for a long time. My current one is 27". The color accuracy is phenomenal even after thousands of hours of use.
