i recently witnessed a hit and run, and i gave chase. all was captured on my dash cam. i need a simple video editing software, so i can trim the accident itself from the long video. the video is to large to send in a email.

Windows Movie Maker is a simple video editor. If you don't have it on your system you can download it for free from MS's app store.

SactoDoug, i found out that movie maker is not offered on the microsoft site for win 10. they stated that movie maker is incorporated with windows photos that is already installed. i tried it, and it is great. they also stated that the movie maker that is being offered by third party sites......is infected.

The challenge I had with movie maker is I had to pay for a plugin to stitch go pro vids🤨

Wasn't compatible with my go pro files. Maybe due to settings I use?

I am glad you found it. It used to be a direct download from Microsoft. Mine was installed under Win7 and transferred when I upgraded to Win10.

Also, I did not say to download a 3rd party version of it. I said to go to the Microsoft app store to download it.

Good luck with whatever you found. Video editing can get very complicated very fast.

In another thread like this, some recommended Davinci Resolve.
It's free and professional grade. While it is high end, I was able to use it for simple editing of video clips. YouTube has help to get started.
Like most, even the simple ones, you will need to learn it enough to get done what you want. Why use a sub-par video editor.
