Weller Rework Station a worthy purchase?

I'm on another tool kick, and I found this sucker on Craigslist for what seems to be a good deal. Considering this rework station is long discontinued, do you think it's worth buying?

I don't do lots of sensitive soldering, but when I do, I'm usually rigging it on the vice and throwing on a magnifier. I desolder with a shopvac. Maybe it's time for something more dedicated to the task?

    Anyhow here's the link.

It looks like a good unit, but I went with a Metcal after doing my research. I also bought back after the "dot-com bust" when these high priced soldering stations hit the market.

Anyways, I bought mine around 2001 as I was mounting LED's on driver circuit boards that were smaller than a dime. I used to sell high performance LED flashlights a good 10 years ahead of the flood of choices we now enjoy. It was quite a time indeed...

Just make sure that it does what you are buying it for and you should be OK.

As long as it works and you can still get tips and heaters go for it. Its Weller so I assume you can. Looks like they go for 100-700 bucks on ebay.

I bought a used Metcal. Look for an older one without the digital display. The older ones heat up quicker.

Now if you do really small soldering get a JBC Micro station. Sure it's $1600 but they work beautifully.
