I haven't used Windows for a very long time, but I've seen people use Quicktime for Windows that seemed easy, but I am sure there are much more powerful ones out there.

The other one was Windows movie editor.

I don't know what you are looking for in the software, but I use openshot. I only use it to clip sections of videos I record and then piece them together. So I can't really tell you how good the software is. Best thing about this program is that it is free.

I use to use windows movie editor but it doesn't encode the video to 60 fps. at least not without paying a fee.

I use Davinci Resolve, it is free and there are tutorials on youtube to do everything you can imagine, and it is used for professional production video editing so it can do anything you can possibly imagine. It looks complicated at first but the more you do it the quicker you will get.

Professional video editing, color correction, visual effects and audio post production all in a single application. Free and paid versions for Mac, Windows and Linux.

Camtasia. Video capture and editing. I prefer it to Adobe Premier Pro. Educational discount available. Best bang for the buck.

Start with the built in Video Editor App on Windows it's pretty basic.

Another vote for openshot, met the developer at a conference.

^This. I haven't tried it myself, but if it's anything like Windows Movie Maker back in the day, it's easy to pick up before advancing to the nicer pay-to-play software like Adobe/Sony Vegas/etc.

It is still called Movie Maker. I didn't even know it was still a part of Windows till I searched, but I started using it for basic things like combining clips and adding mp3 tracks. It is fast and easy to use.
