[Past] PSA…Might Be Last Week To Pick Up An Intel Consumer Mac

So after the Apple event, we learn that the 27” iMac was discontinued in favor of the Mac Studio (Mac Mini Pro + Studio display), and is no longer an all-in-one design.
M2 was rebranded as M1 Ultra as a dual die CPU, and the maximum memory bumped to 128GB.
The Intel Mac mini somehow survived and continues on unchanged. It will probably be discontinued in the next round of spec. bumps for the M1 mini when it gets the true M2.
Better displays and ports on the M1 Ultra chips, but lordy they are expensive, with a minimum $1K premium over other CPUs, and $3-4K premium with the 128GB unified memory.
Given that the performance is on par or better than the Mac Pro Xeon, it is almost a giveaway, but that’s only in Apple’s jacked pricing model.
The Mac Studio is quite ugly in comparison to everything else in the lineup, and hopefully it’s just reduced back to a Mac mini in future revisions. It’s pretty clear that the Mac Studio is an interim step before the real M2 arrives, that will consolidate feature sets from all M1 lines in a smaller package, and is the true replacement for the connectivity that Intel Macs provided. -

Is there a reason people are willing to pay so much more Apple products than the equivalent machines without an Apple logo? Is it the available software?Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty.

I would wager that there is no other machine on planet Earth that has the same power (CPU), physical size and TDP of the newer Macs.
Can you please let us know when you find one?
For some that need what Apple delivers, for their business or requirements, there is no competition. Doubly so when your business is in areas that Apple leads.Comment
