    Newegg Caught Acting Sketchy

YouTuber Gamers Nexus bought a motherboard from NewEgg. When it arrived they did not need it anymore so they RMA and sent it back unopened. NewEgg claimed that the CPU pins were bent, refused the RMA and claimed that they mailed it back at the end of December. Gamers Nexus made of video about it and the bad press made it to the higher ups at NewEgg. NewEgg gave a full refund and the package with the motherboard showed up. Gamers Nexus then opens it and finds that it does have bent pins but also finds a sticker from Gigabyte.

The full story is that NewEgg tried to RMA it to Gigabyte. Gigabyte refused it because of the bent pins and offered to repair it for $100. NewEgg then sold the known defective board as an open box and refused the RMA when Gamers Nexus tried to return it.

    The earlier video.

Well, someone had to take over for Fry's.

NewEgg is owned by a China company so you can expect these kind of shenanigans.
There is no week nor day nor hour, when tyranny may not enter upon this country, if the people lose their supreme confidence in themselves -- and lose their roughness and spirit of defiance -- Tyranny may always enter -- there is no charm, no bar against it -- the only bar against it is a large resolute breed of men.

Well "BentPinsEgg" doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

I hope they don't go the way of TigerDirect. I've never had a problem other than a lost package, which they traced and found, but were ready to reship. I've had a disk or two fail early but I'm not ready to blame them for that.

Not that I buy a lot of hardware, but I've never had any issues with Newegg.

I buy a significant amount of stuff from Newegg, been a customer for many years, never once had an issue like this. I've returned things and it's always been a flawless process. So one guy had one weird experience? Let's condemn a company and never buy from them again because one guy posts a YouTube video? That seems to be the common theme in the video comments.

It's more than one guy having a problem. This is a somewhat known problem with Newegg these days. I would avoid open box products from them.

Ha I was going to post the same thing. Frys would take in known bad stuff and wipe it off with alcohol and put it back on the shelf. My buddy said it was so bad they even started to memorize the SNs of equipment that came back.

I had a friend that worked at Fry's. They had a shrink wrap machine and would shrink wrap returns and put them back on the floor with no indication it was a return.

They were supposed to put that little sticker on it but they didn't always do that.

Newegg isn't the same company as a couple of years ago. It was purchased by the Chinese and they have visions of it becoming a giant ecommerce giant to challenge Amazon.

They are screwing up what was a great place to get your computer stuff.

Newegg has been engaging in all kind of sketchy stuff for years. They used to be my go to place for comp parts, now it the last place I shop.
