Not a big fan of upgraded iCloud

I upgraded iCloud in hopes of being able to transfer files from one iPhone to another. Specifically, I upgraded from an iPhone 12 Pro Max to a 13 Pro Max.

The point was that I've had hundreds of GB of videos of courses (almost exclusively from "The Great Courses") and those wouldn't transfer by the normal upgrade transfer processes. Many settings and all the photos would transfer but not those files which I'd arranged in file folders not standard to the iPhone.

So it seemed obvious I should get a nice iCloud upgrade and upload the files to there and be able to download and upload what I want and when I want and I can share them with my wife.

I don't like using iTunes for data transfers as it has been hit-or-miss for me and there are some connection issues for me (relatively mild but I'd like to bypass those).

Well, iCloud is ridiculously slow at uploading files. I'm using my PC and browser to accomplish the task. I know, I know, everyone I've read says it isn't iCloud but the user's internet connection which is slow. But at least in my case this is just male bovine excrement.

I start the upload and it will send something like 80-95% of the file in just a matter of less than one minute and it'll then just sit there with no further file movement at all for potentially hours. You can actually have the indicated number of MB for a file and the number of MB loaded be exactly the same (suggesting very nearly 100% loaded) and have it sit there for a long time without any change or finalization of the upload.

I'm rather doubting I'll keep the iCloud update. The functionality just doesn't seem to be good enough. But then, maybe I'll discover a secret sauce to speed up that last little bit of upload and be happy as a clam - not holding my breath.

    FWIW.

I use Carbonite, a backup for computers. Initial backup can take quite a while, days or more. After that, uploads are relatively short since it only working with one file. Then, if it already backed up, you can retrieve the file anytime.

Thank you. I'll research how to get/use Finder on a PC. A really quick search suggests it may be limited to the MacOS but I've not searched enough to be sure quite yet.

That's odd, I've done a couple of data transfers with the new update and have had no issues, maybe try contacting apple about the issue.

What about using AirDrop for transferring files?
