    Changing hdd to ssd with m2 as mbr

    So im planning on changing my hdd to an ssd.
    I have an m2 as my mbr.
    Can i just pull out my hdd and put in an ssd if theres no critical files on my hdd?
    Im curently doing a factory reset.

    As long as the rest of your system supports this I don't see why not.

      I assume you're not referring to the drive which contains your boot partition and OS? If this is a secondary drive you're referring to, yes you can just swap them out. The boot record should have been written to the M2 (OS) drive.

        So you have a M2 and a hdd right now?
        Windows? M2 is your OS dive but the system restore might be on the hdd in a hidden partition.
        If windows, go to Disk Management, make sure your hdd doesn't have hidden restore/backup partitions. If its just 1 large partition then you can just swap hdd for ssd.

            If windows is already on the m.2 then those drives are swappable if you copy over files then use disk management to reassign drive letters. Works perfectly for programs and games.
