If gaming performance is important to you, the Hisense U8G is about impossible to beat for the price, and it's not much more than the U7G. It's supposed to have an incredibly low input latency and the picture quality blows everything else in the price range out of the water. I actually just recently read reviews of the U7G vs U8G because I was looking for a new 4k TV for my office for playing PS5 and other stuff, and the U8G just adds some quality of life enhancements and more local dimming zones. I ordered a 55" for myself. Finding a quality TV with HDMI 2.1 in that price range is tough, but the U8G checks all the boxes. I think if you're just a casual gamer the U7G will save you money, and should serve you well, if that's your choice.
Also read very good things about the TCL 6 series, though you'd have to settle for a Roku OS as opposed to Android. Also, depending on if HDMI 2.1 is important to you (if you want 4k @120Hz capability), the TCL doesn't have those ports. The Android version of that TV did, but that model is apparently no longer available.
I also was considering the Sony X85J, but decided against it, don't remember exactly why, other than input latency not being as good, and I think the U8G has a brighter picture. The X90J is a big step up in quality, may or may not be worth the cost increase to you.Last edited by MrFancyPants; 12-21-2021, 7:25 PM.Comment

I got the cheap Hisense A6G and have had no issues so far. I just wanted the cheapest TV since I have a wild kid who breaks things. Works fine with streaming and the PS4 Pro. I don’t notice any lag or anything. It’s in fairly bright room and it’s fine there too. Also the viewing angle is pretty wide. We have one couch in front of it and one pretty far to the side and you can see just fine from the side one. I was expecting a lot less for what it costs.vindicta inducit ad salutem?Comment
