Ummmm why are 5 year old GPUs so expensive?

So I was just browsing for a new video card since I want to upgrade from my GTX 1060 and noticed that it is still going for around 200-250 for this card....what am I missing here?

Guessing.... crypto currency miners and chip shortage? Again, blind guess.

I can't imagine that such a old card would be good at mining but I know nothing about crypto. I guess it would be a good time to sell.

Shortages plain and simple. Current GPU prices are absurd.

I still play in 1080p with a gtx970. The cpu is most important now.

OP same problem for almost a year. i just nabbed one that was not ebay market price though still almost double the msrp (amd 6700xt and i wanted a 6800 or 6800xt instead for my build).

looks like the old cards are still in demand.

Welcome to a year and a half ago. Where you been?

The best part about it is the chip shortage is expected to last well into next year. It'll be 2023 before things even begin to return to normal.
