      It depends what you want the router to do?
      What logs you want
      Parental tools to block sites
      Or set hours on the kids account.
      Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

      Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

      Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

      Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

          What all do you need the router to do? Consumer grade routers are all garbage anyway, but under $50 you're going to need to compromise a lot.

                  Old machine running linux. Thats been my solution for the past 20 years. Just give it an IP, make sure you can SSH into it then bang it with FWBuilder from a Windows host.
