    Computer Guys Help!

I just noticed a very faint thin dark line running in the full length of the second 2/3 's of my HP Laptop 15".. Did I just loose a pixel or should I start looking around? She is just over 4 years and a inexpensive toy..

If its full length thats not just a dead pixel thats a whole row. In my experience its usually due to a loose cable internally or the panel has gone bad. If you want to take it apart you can press all the connections back together and see if it helps. A failing graphics card will do things like that too but its usually more than one line and they are different colors.

If you really want to go through the trouble you can try plugging it into an external monitor and see if those lines replicate. If they do, it’s probably a GPU or motherboard issue, if they don’t, it could be an internal video cable issue. You could run a diagnostics test in the BIOS and see if it comes up with an error. Otherwise, you could start looking for another laptop.
