Weak Signal at Back of House

Bought a new place, it's 2400 sq ft. The wireless signal is much weaker at the back of the house.

Cable internet @ 400 Mbps with Spectrum

Technicolor ET2251 modem

What do I need to boost speeds on other side of house?

I had problems getting a usable wifi signal to the downstairs front of my house. I was using an archer c9 also. I finally bought a TP Link Deco mesh router. Now I don't have an issue with wifi anywhere in my house or yard.

Was it the short pucks or tall cylinders?

2 options

1- Run a wire from your Router to the other end of the home---
Snake it in the wall into the ceiling or crawl space
run to the back - have it come out in a midpoint or the end of the home- plug that into an extender

Hard wire is 100%- just a pain to run


2- hit costco and buy a mesh system
Why?
a-Mesh works really well
b- costco has an awesome return program if it does not work for you
c- costco extends warranty on many electronic items

We went to an Orbi Mesh system, works well. You can also just add a generic wi-fi extender if you don't want a whole new system.

Raise the elevation of the WiFi router to increase signal strength at greater range. On top of a tall bookcase or shelf should do it.

Deco M5 mesh system solved all my wi-fi signal problems. was money well spent, and a very easy setup.

Can you adjust the antenna(, or two with antennas)-"side(s)" facing the dead-zone, literally as the crow flies, in the direction of said dead-zone?

Can you raise your router/AP up a bit, like on the top of a shelf/cabinet, away from the wall a smidge?

Can you just use a better router/AP?

My house is only 2110sq ft, but 2 story, so 328ft WiFi distance is not an issue, and I have antenna-"sides" facing all the dead zones.

External walls with stucco - yes- chicken wire type mesh

old school 1920-1940 Plaster- no wire... If you have plaster on interior walls- its a lot of material.. the wood lath and plaster -

I had a similar problem- we bought a 1800 sqft house and ironically couldn’t get decent connection in the master bedroom. I got the Orbi from Costco and it works well. I’ve used wifi extenders before and it’s just eh. I would spend the money on a solid mesh system.

I have that problem with my 5300sqft home.
Firesticks are all good, but I often put up PTZ wireless cameras in places to monitor stuff (duck nests, 3d printer, various rooms when away). Wireless extenders work good enough for the cameras, but not good enough for browsing the internet (high latency). Theres no replacement for wired. Ive routed 11 cables of cat6a plenum in the last 3 years. Some take days to get through, but all worth it.
