    QI- wireless phone charging

I had a few charging cables die... while looking at replacements - I was sidetracked with wireless chargers.

    Something like this-

Yootech Magnetic Wireless Charger, Compatible with MagSafe Charger, 5ft Cable Metal Fast Wireless Charging Pad with USB-C 20W PD Adapter Compatible with iPhone 12/12 Pro/12 Mini/12 Pro Max,AirPods Pro https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08YJD7LW6...S1EJDPXTYZBF6V

What should I know before ordering a few for nightstands to charge devices?
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
    (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

I got a similar one from Ravpower. (link gone from Amazon)

It might have been listed here under Deals, Sales and Coupons.

I have had it for over a year, no issues.

You need to place the charger where you will not bump it if charging in the middle of the night.
Mine has to be placed a little carefully to keep the charging light on.

If you have an older phone, make sure it is compatible. It does not charge Mrs. Garv's Iphone 7, mine is an 8.

You can buy charging coils on ebay for about $4 to charge early phones that don't have wireless charging.

Cool, will check it out. Thanks.

I can be a big spender for Mrs. Garv's Birthday.

One thing to remember about wireless charging is that unless specified, the charger will provide the maximum wattage the device can handle.

Generally this is 7.5 - 12 W on a phone, where the wall warts only provide 2.5 to 5 W.

The extra power is not all used and some is wasted as excess heat. That heat causes the battery life to be shortened, sometimes by as much as half.

            Pick your poison.

I also found the wireless made the phone warm. Especially in a case.

I switched to magnetically attached cords. You leave a piece in the charge port and the cord just fins the connector when brought near. Like a baby to a teat.
