    Slow Internet

For about a week now the internet has been very slow and erratic. This is not just at home but also at work, my wife's school, her friends work. tracert tools in the command shell also show extra time and incomplete hops. I also noticed confirmation emails are not coming right away as usual, sometimes an hour later. A friend in IT said it could be the heat but a few weeks ago when it was 110 deg out I had no issues

Anyone know what's going on with this?

    1) Cable?

    2) Have you power cycled the cable modem at the AC side (unplug from the wall)?

Cable modems are notorious for "getting stuck on stupid", with memory leaks "to me" it looks like... but not sure if you are on cable...

Who's service are you using for internet access? It could be a problem with their equipment and not necessarily anything to do with the equipment and access within your home. If the tracert starts to fail at a specific point every time, that is a likely suspect.

I do recall there was pinched fiber (coworker found a reference), on Verizon's backbone, and so everyone downstream had issues, including my cell phone, and they actually gave me credit for the outage day... Not sure if related.

Sometimes it might be the service provider

              3 things.

              1. Raw download speed. Install Ookla speed test and try from different servers.

              2. Site to site transition time. Could be a DNS problem down the line. Or your ISP DNS. Try Cloudflare at 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1

              3. Page to page transition time. Site problem. Nothing you can do.
