Dead Phone - How to wipe?

How does one wipe a Phone (like wif a cloth or something?) if it's dead, Dead, DEAD?

    Samsung Galaxy S7, T-Mobile
    Connected to power
Previously 'System Reboot...' would show, but no longer.
Pushing all the combinations of button don't work, no way, no how.

I can take it into a retail store and get some pitiful amount for trade in value, but the obvious security concerns are daunting.

I used to wrap HDDs up in a shipping blanket and strike them a few times with a sledgehammer to decommission them.

    You could also shoot it.

      There was a commercial about insurance coverage on some item (can't remember what it was, but I think it was an old school telephone);
a scene would show the item involved in a reasonable accident - "Covered!"
Another scene would show the item flying thru the air, then hit with a shotgun blast (a la skeet) - "Not Covered!"

        This ^^^

You could remove the sim card, but I don't believe that's a guarantee that everything is irrevocably wiped. Total destruction is your only guarantee.

Why wipe? Just smash it. If you are trying to hide info from the NSA, they already have it. The smash stops anyone else from getting your data.

Just bury it in the back yard. Somebody will dig it up in 100 years and you'll be famous.

I concur - much of our trash today will be archeological treasures in just a few hundred years from now

Trade in value vs release of sensitive personal data and information? I would fold it in half. Being an older Android, did you use device encryption?

                      Safety glasses and a hammer.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Careful smashing it. It has a lithium battery and you will get burned if you are close when it explodes.

Take it to the range and blast it.

Fast forward to around 3 minutes

If dead - no way to wipe the device of info

McHammer time if you keep info on the phone

Or pay to have it fixed
                          Wipe
                          Then sell it
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
                          (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.
