Did Amazon lockout 3rd party Ethernet adapters from working on Firestick 4k's?

I got a compatible chipset USB hub with 100baseTX for the Firestick a couple years ago and it worked fine.

I have been noticing that recently I am getting a lot longer buffereing, and more common SD def kicks in, and quality suffers.

In the last couple of days the wife said it has always been on wireless...
She is wrong, it WAS wired, and working fine. It is now not seeing the generic Ethernet adapter.

    Anyone know when this happened?

Lockdown to only buy THEIR products?

Seems a little pinko, but it's Amazon...

    Anyone have details on this?

AS I WAS... it appears my second, backup (the same model 1GBps Ethernet link I got 2 when I purchased) works fine. The Ethernet/USB hub just failed on the 1st one after under 1.5 years.

This model is discontinued on Amazon, anyways, so there is that.
    Maybe failures is why...?

Firestick 4k STILL works with generic Ethernet adapters.
