    Brave browser

I'm interested in what other people think of this browser. I've installed it on my phone and laptop and I'm pleased with it so far. It's free(supported by donations), features built-in ad blocking, tracker blocking, lots of other desirable features. Developed by Brendan Eich, the creator of Javascript, who was terminated by Mozilla(of which he was a founder) for his conservative views.

how does it compare in memory utilization like opera? opera started out great but became a memory hog. i use it as an alternate since my chrome is more for work now even on my personal machines.

I used the Brave Browser for a few months.
It worked fine but what I disliked about it was the missing Menu Bar.
Getting to stored Bookmarks was a big hassle that took extra steps.
I stopped using it because of that.
A lot of folks were also complaining about this in a Blog I was reading.

What menu bar options were you missing? I've been using it for years and never even noticed..

Strange..on my version I have a bookmarks bar...so not an issue to reach bookmarks..maybe I don't have as many as you do so I don't notice any hassle..

I just re-installed Brave to see if a newer version shows the Menu Bar and it doesn't.

This is what I am talking about:
              Menu Bar.JPG

This is from my Firefox browser and is not shown in Brave.

Also, to get to your stored Bookmarks (after Importing them) you have to jump through some hoops to get there.
You click on the three line icon (upper right corner), then select Bookmarks, then click on Bookmarks Manager. then finally click on your desired Bookmark.

FWIW, you can get an Addon to show the Menu Bar but I found that it worked half the time and needed reinstalling.

That is why I stopped using Brave.

This is how I get to my bookmarks:

I either click on them from my bookmark bar or if there's overflow I go to Other Bookmarks on the right.

I have never needed the menu bar.

I rarely have to do that. With the few sites I do usually it's a "trusted" site like a bank and I just click on the shield to disable all the blocking it does. I don't have to do it very often though..

I never figured how to get an other bookmarks up in the bar

I’ll have to play with that.

Seriously - who does not have 100+ sites bookmarked.

                      Car
                      Travel
                      Guns
                      Finance
                      Etc
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
                      (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

does it have capability like Opera to install chrome extensions? like bookmark sync or even lastpass.

I use it on my Android devices after Firefox fscked up the quick tab switching on the Android platforms...
Firefox on Android devices now takes extra seconds to change tabs, per tab-switch, minimum, which made it useless, for me anyways.

I tried it on my PCs and it was slow, like REAL-SLOW...
I haven't tried it on a PC in a while, but it is Firefox based, as I recall, like GNU IceCat/Iceweasel/IceFox.

I like the concept, so I use and support Brave.
