Need monitor advice

I'm buying this Acer computer for the office (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...1Q8JVZG5&psc=1). It's a done deal - don't want to buy another PC. But...

I need to choose a monitor(s). I have two 24" Spectre monitors (1920x1080) at home which I like (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...KIKX0DER&psc=1). Good value for the price.

I'm also considering choosing one larger 34" monitor that is 2560x1080(https://www.amazon.com/LG-34WP65G-B-...8RJ1BFJR&psc=1).

MS Office is the software of choice for 95% of the work to be done. Desk top space isn't an issue. My question is will the on-board Intel UHD 630 Graphics Card work with one 34" monitor at 2560x1080 (I know it works using two 24" monitors at 1920x1080). Second question is will the same Intel UHD 630 Graphics Card work at 3440x1440 resolution for a higher end 34" monitor. I do not want to add a separate video card and after 40 minutes on hold, I gave up reaching Acer tech support.

It only has HDMI, and that looks like the bottle neck. That may be beyond the capabilities of HDMI. I mean it may be possible with a low refresh rate, like 30 hz or lower.

Intel say the graphics card has a max resolution of 4096x2304@60Hz

Two monitors would offer much more space. The graphics card should work with that monitor though.

Those 34" wide are not as big as you think. We let people at work choose between 1x 34", 2x 32" or 2x 27" Most people opt for the 2x 27" except for like secretaries and such who don't want more things on their desk. The CAD guys all have 2x 32" 2K monitors (Samsung SD850). I had a Dell 49" wide curved and I hated it. It was way too big (wide) and the scaling was useless. I'm used to the 16:9 screen size and those wide screens make you squish them up if you want to split your screen up (Dell has an app to do that, but theres third party ones as well like Actual Multiple Monitors). I gave that monitor away and got a 43" 4K TV to use as a monitor and split it up in to 4 equal virtual 1080 monitors.

Your graphics card will be fine. We use those in our shop computers that look at 3D models on 4K TVs all day. That said, you aren't going to be gaming with it or anything.

With the proper cable HDMI does 4K/60. I have about 50 machines set up with that. Just have to make sure the cable spec says it supports that.

ETA: looks like you can get them from Amazon not 3rd party for $120.

That is an interesting Idea. Do you have any pictures of your setup with the 4 way split screen in use?

That is an interesting Idea. Do you have any pictures of your setup with the 4 way split screen in use?

It lets you carve up your screen however you want. I just do the 4 way split.



Its not free but its less than $20. A trick is to install the trial and then uninstall it and during the uninstall it begs you to buy it and gives a discount.

You ever use a mouse, at med-to-max mouse DPI res on a TV with a smoking high-res?

Hard enough with 1x 28", let along dragging my rodent across 3x 28" monitors, which I plan on soon, if I am to work from home...

Work, but better turn your mouse-pad landscape, and keep on picking-up... and picking-up, or if you set mouse-res too high, you never really hit the edges of resizes for windows, EVER...

Go with one large monitor. Two 24" monitors limits the size of each screen. I have one 30" monitor that works fantastic. I can completely fill the screen with one app. Or split between two or more apps. I've never seen the advantage of two smaller screens. It makes no sense.

1 have two eizo 27" that run 1440p at work before all the remote stuff. that seems to work better for me than my 34" u3415w and arranging windows. of course my eyes can handle the 1440p resolution though.

when we went remote, i struggle a little and it was an adjustment using my dell 34". i felt i needed more real estate but it's just me and how i like things arranged. now i have a used asus pb328 40" that replaced a 27" 1080 planar (gave that to the kid) coupled with my 34"? works great. it feels like the other screen is so far away though and really have to turn my neck.

i second getting two larger monitors and than two small ones provided your workspace can fit it. 27" minimum.

This is true but there is a solution. I hated the solution at first but I like it now that I’m used to it. A Logitech trackball. One of the side ones you use with your thumb. Like you said swiping across over 3000 pixels sucks. You just flick the trackball and you are across...
