      Questions:
      1. Any changes recently?
      2. When you run disk utility, any anomalies?
      3. Have you tried to upgrade from El Capitan to Mojave at any time?
      4. Do you have a recent backup image?

I ran into a similar issue awhile back, and thought it to be a bad drive, but in reality it turned out to be an intermittent fault in the cable connecting the drive to the board. MacBook Pro 2012 era. 12 bucks for a cable and back in business with an extra drive to boot.

Have you tried booting in safe mode? Also try booting in target disk mode. Chances are your data is still safe if this is a hardware issue. If you can boot in safe mode, make an immediate backup in case this is a drive failing.

Also, try unplugging all accessories. Ive had USB hubs, cables, and devices that were failing cause me all kinds of issues. Just had it happen with my USB hub that would cause weird hangs. Eliminate potential causes and see if it changes.

Do you have a separate mac? If you can boot in target disk mode, you can hook it up to another mac to access and back up the data. Macs last a long time but they do die eventually, and all hard drives eventually fail so you may just be at that point. Priority is protecting your data first, then seeing if you can salvage the hardware.

Unix Kernel Panic, from the report I would also agree that that is a possible ram module failing as someone already mentioned. You can always post that Kernel Panic report on one of the Apple forums and they will actually be helpful to diagnose it completely.

This may help you as well:

From http://developer.app...063/_index.html When the kernel crashes on Mac OS X, the system displays a panic message. At this point the system will have to be restarted. But before hitting the power button, how can one find out what caused the crash? This technote addresses kernel panics: what th...

But seriously, I had a Mac book air go bad. The repair shop explained that Apple puts all the computing components on one board, so when it goes bad, it could be anything. And diagnosing and repairing is typically more costly than buying another Apple.

Kiss my shiny white butt hahaha. I have another one (2006) that is running garage duty just fine.

Kind of a recent build and Im no computer expert. Stiripped all the guts out of a bad case (working Mac Pro) and put them in a pristine case. While I was in there, use matched/unlidded upgraded processors and a new graphics card. RAM is apple....no aftermarket POS ebay specials.

It ran perfect for about 3 months. One of my bluetooth mouse battery died so I used a back up and the first crash (one mouse was bluetooth and the other was a bluetooth dongle).

Daveinwoodand, thanks, Ill post the report over there.

Garand45.....I have no clue how to back up on another computer, but the USB board sounds plausable.

Carboncopycloner app. Every mac user should have and know how to use. Then add backblaze and failures are just inconvenient not a possible data loss.

OP, since this was a put-together apparently, if I'm reading right you have the Westmere 3.33Ghz six core version and I note the SDRAM is populated with 8 1033MHz modules. Since other members have mentioned RAM issues as a potential cause, have you de-populated the RAM and/or switched in any known good RAM? I'm reading the Westmere was equipped with 1333Mhz RAM modules as original equipment, possible issue there?
