Talking here about Outlook.com, NOT Microsoft Outlook in Microsoft Office. In Outlook.com, apparently you cannot have two separate e-mail accounts (two separate logins), open at the same time. Seriously! G-mail does this easily. Wanted an outlook.com e-mail for me (w/separate contacts, etc.). And then another for the household. Nope, can't do it. All Microsoft can do is offer hokey work-arounds...unless someone here can tell me something I don't know. I do not want the two Outlook accounts linked, nor do I want to use Chrome so I can open up an incognito window to open the second account. Just amazing, how many complaints I found on this years ago, and Microsoft apparently STILL has not improved this. Good way to push customers away.

Huh I stopped using outlook aka Hotmail a decade ago. They are really behind the times. -
Use different browsers.
Google does it easily because it's cheating by storing authentication tokens in your browser with long life and not deauthenticating you (logging you out) when you switch / login to another account. It's a convenient feature but it's beyond the edge on how it's handling authentication tokens.
Don't get me started on how people will authenticate personal and work Google accounts in the same browser at the same time, and end up intermingling / mixing up the two when sharing files.
Just because Google does it, it doesn't make it right.

I am not a security expert (authentication tokens), so please forgive any naive comments. That said, I understand how people could intermingle stuff, but am retired, and have one computer, so the work/personal issue is not a concern for me. I do appreciate the explanation.
I may consider using two browsers as some have suggested. Not ideal, but a way to handle.
Thanks, Phil

It's not an outlook.com web mail issue, it's a browser function and the way they're designed to work, as a convenience to the end user. When you log in to your outlook account on a web browser, your authentication token is stored in the browser session and valid across any other tabs you open. Every browser works this way. In order to be able to log in to two separate accounts simultaneously, you'll need to use two browsers, or as you stated, an incognito window.
The other option is to install the Outlook client on your PC, then you can connect as many email accounts as you want and view them all in the same window. You can even load accounts from different providers. I have three Outlook web mail accounts I manage with the Outlook client. Works great.
