K have two old desktops that have been collecting dust for years. They both have a bunch of photos on them and possibly some other miscellaneous files I'd like to keep. The older desktop, I basically retired in favor of a new one... the new one, after a few years of use gave me a message on startup of something like "hard drive failure imminent" and I retired that one at that time.
What is my best bet for getting EVERYTHING off of both hard drives from these old desktops?
Should I just pull the hard drives and pit them into a case and copy them to a new hard drive?? One is a 500gb drive, the older one smaller, I don't remember the capacity. So, do I buy a Seagate 1tb drive at costco, and some other hardware/cables and use my laptop to transfer the data? Do I clone them to the new drive?
I can follow instructions well, but am not super tech savvy on the best way to go about it.
