Razer gaming laptop - any good?

Thinking of getting a gaming laptop so I can play games such as Fallout 4 and Skyrim when I'm not sitting in my office or when I'm traveling back to CA to prep my house there for use as rental.

Razer seems to have a few offerings. I'm thinking perhaps something like this one: https://www.razer.com/gaming-laptops...-03287E72-R3U1

Does anyone have experience with these? Thanks.

The newer Razer (9th, and 10thGen, are much better than previous generations. They have MUCH better thermals, and are superior gamers! Good choice.

The newer ones are good to go. As Dragunov said, previous to the last two gens (current and previous), they tended to run hot and throttle. To get the most performance, previously, you usually had to undervolt and even re-pate the cpu with better thermal compound than what came from the factory.

Thanks guys, I'm assuming that when you refer to "10th generation" you meant the Intel 10th Gen i7 CPU?

For what it's worth, I have a 3 year old Acer Predator with an i7 6700 and Nvidia 1070 GTX and it runs a heavily modded Skyrim like a champ, at the highest graphics settings. If you're considering a new Razer, then it's more than capable of running Skyrim and Fallout 4, as well as much more demanding games.

The Predator, brought Acer out of a tailspin. I hope whomever Acer had design it, got a fat raise, and a bonus.

                        Predators are nice machines.

It sure is a nice laptop. I've been thoroughly impressed with every aspect of it, performs great and build quality is top notch. I haven't had a single issue with it. The screen picture quality is outstanding. It has slots for 2 M.2 SSDs as well as a third 2.5" drive and a DVD drive. I can't say enough good about it.

Also for what it's worth, I have an older Acer 15" laptop which I bought probably close to 10 years ago, with a 3rd gen i7 and Nvidia GT 640, running Windows 7, and that one is still going strong as well. I plan to keep it for legacy gaming.

Acer makes good stuff, and it's priced well.

Acer has always been mediocre for the most part, making "meh" machines for the most part. There nVidia powered machines, like your old Acer, were pretty good, but their other machines were uninspired, and kinda' boring. Build quality wasn't all that great.

Then suddenly, BOOM..... They come up with the most badass gaming laptop in the history of gaming laptops:

The Predator 21X is the big brother to your Predator.

For the BUDGET gamer, they come up with the Nitro5:

This is one of the best, entry level, budget gamers ever built. Build quality is a little on the "meh" side, but it's reliable, fast, with a decent display. Just don't bang it around. It's not a ThinkPad.

The Nitro five, can be found for about $550, and up. Display is decent, speed is effective, video on the lowest end one, is still quite usable.

I've actually had three of these to upgrade. Very nice budget gamer.

Acer came up with these three heavy hitters, including YOUR Predator, within near the same year.

Three badass gaming machines, for three different levels of gaming. Good job, Acer!
