Google Maps & Google Earth?

Do they show the same satellite images?

Is one more up to date than the other?

Are the dates of images available?

Is it worth downloading/using both?

Google Earth is much more powerful and customizable. I know you used to be able to change the image dates but have not used earth in some time.
I would say it's definitely worth downloading if you need something like that.

Earth has way more stuff and historical images. As far as I know maps doesn't.

I already have G-Maps. My inquiry was in hopes that Earth had more up to date pics, and hopefully "dates pics" to check for most current.

Ability to zoom in for closer clear view would also be a plus IMO.

I don't really need "more stuff" other than those parameters.

I had Earth on previous puter that died. Seems as if Maps pics are more out of date than what I remember from Earth couple yrs ago.

When I was researching a hike a while back, I found that I could zoom in much closer and retain a clearer image on Earth v.s. Maps.

Not sure about which has more current images.

Just takes 5 mins to load it and see. The maps are dated I believe. They are with street view. Earth has that pseudo flyover mode. Kind of cheesy and not super high resolution.

We use Earth to get a pretty decent view of hvac units on rooftops

It's official Google lies as to photo dates. Both MAP and EARTH.

Had to look no farther than my own house. Both show same photo of a time frame at least 2 yrs old. But labeled 2020.

That's how long it's been since side neighbor got rid of trampoline in back yard. And back neighbor got rid of above ground pool. Both shown in mis dated pics.
