This sounds like an image scaling problem to me. Are you trying to use images that are photos taken with the phone? My iPhone takes photos at a resolution of 4032x3024. If you try squeeze an image that size into say, a 64x64 avatar space, resulting image quality will greatly suffer.

Upload your pictures there, then use the CGN image icon to copy/paste the direct image url.

Working on a phone is aggravating for me, so I use my computer or the "desktop" site on a phone.

Your pictures are tiny because you're uploading and hosting directly on Calguns servers, and it gets very expensive storing/serving all of that content.

Site wouldn't be sustainable if everyone uploaded 4 megabyte images, so your image is downscaled to a few kilobytes.

You can use apps like Snapseed to crop and reduce your image size (dimensions and file size) so they don't get compressed into little pixilated squares.
