I need a new email solution

Past couple years I've been using Yahoo Business email and I access it using their web browser and my android phone. I'm not happy with it anymore and want to return to a product where I can group, sort, and export/download my emails, and ultimately save certain folders of emails to a disc for storage. I previously used Outlook 2007 and 2010.

Should I simply subscribe to Outlook 365 and configure it so I can run my Yahoo Biz email thru that? Is Outlook Live the same as Outlook 365, or is it a watered down version? Should I consider using gmail, and if so is it configurable to run my yahoo biz email thru it seamlessly using myname@mydomain.com?

    Recommendations? Suggestions?

EDIT: I just subscribed to MS365 and downloaded the Office suite and will run Yahoo email thru Outlook. Will probably eventually dump yahoo email server and go with NameCheap, who my domain is registered with.

The best way is to get you own domain and then host it on a web server.

you can register a domain here: https://internetbs.net and host it for example here: https://www.site5.com/ or https://www.godaddy.com/

A domain can cost from $3 to $9 year and hosting for about $6 / month.

This way you have complete control over your email. and can create infinite different email addresses. i.e. somename@yourdomain.com where somename can be anything.

In addition you can also put up a website too since you have the hosting.

I have my own domain, currently with NameCheap, pointing to Yahoo Biz mail servers. I could just use NameCheaps email service and run that thru Outlook, and drop Yahoo altogether. May be the best way to go.

              Mozilla Thunderbird does all that.

Actually, it's not that hard to go with your own email server. This is what I do, and I also do likewise with the Web server and DNS servers. Everything runs on a pair of Raspberry Pi's, so it's low-power as well. If we get hit with a power outage, all the Internet stuff (router, Pi, broadband modem, etc.) is on an APC Smart-UPS, so I can still get email from anywhere with Mozilla Thunderbird. Anti-spam is handled by OpenBSD's "spamd" daemon and is doggone effective.

Thanks for the input guys. I just want to keep it super simple, reliable, and not have to have any additional hardware involved.

It looks like Microsoft Business 365 Standard is the ideal product for me. $12.50/month and I get Office programs, and MS Exchange hosting too, which is great...one less link in the chain. All I need to to is redirect my whatever's at NameCheap from pointing to Yahoo Business email servers over to Microsofts.

No reason to pay for your email. I have a domain I pay $12/yr for and all email gets forwarded to Mozilla Thunderbird, where it auto-sorts on my desktop. It has a built-in full-text index that is lickety-split and my email does not reside on anyone else's machine. I also have every email I have ever sent and received since 1995.

Office 365 has a variety of plans. You will have to do some research if you go that route. We've been using it for over a year now and its still a PITA. Nobody ever seems to have the right license.... then MS goes and changes it all the time. We are having issues with Teams now because they switched the license around on us and half the people can no longer use it.

I log into the server that holds my emails and use their web interface to run through them there daily. Then I download them to my email app and delete them from the server. So, yes, they are stored on someone else's machine, but only briefly.
