Google Chrome Issue

There are some expired certs in one of the chain paths provided by the server. It is not causing any problems for me but I don't use a Mac.
That test also did handshake simulations from many browser types. Have you tried Safari? It seems to have passed all the tests with the various flavors of MacOS+Safari.
Also, are you able to continue past this error? You should be able to.Last edited by SkyHawk; 06-26-2020, 6:01 PM. -

Oh and I forgot...safari works(sometimes). A lot slower than chrome plus sometimes puts the forum in a very basic format...which is annoying.Originally posted by bruceflinchTis Better, to be Overworked & Underpaid,

Have you reset your browser to default state? Cleared cookies, temp files, etc?
a quick google search came up with this:

First, make sure your clock/date is set to something near correct. Within a 24 hrs should be good enough.
Second update the browser and possibly the OS. Both come with root certificates if those expire you won't be able to validate current certificates.
Finally double check your dns servers. Most likely it's assigned via dhcp via the wifi if other machines work in the same wifi in doubt this is your problem.Comment

I tried that, still nothing.Have you reset your browser to default state? Cleared cookies, temp files, etc?

I also tried uninstalling the app and then re-installing and nothing.
Clock and date are spot on. I tried installing a new version of Chrome, but because the computer is so old, it wont allow me to install the update. I can't update the OS either, because the computer wont support it.First, make sure your clock/date is set to something near correct. Within a 24 hrs should be good enough.

Im on a different computer now and it works...Originally posted by bruceflinchTis Better, to be Overworked & Underpaid,

I use Firefox on Linux and Windows.
Occasionally one has to "refresh" Firefox, but I found it better than Chrome, as Firefox does not remember nay logins to say Google services when private browsing, so they can't tie the gmail account to your searches if you never sign into gmail from a Private window, it seems. Chrome REMEMBERS ALWAYS, so it is not really Incognito, if it remembers...
I found out there were tracking Chrome better when all my... NSFW links synced on my work computer.

Expired site certificates are from the site end not the browser software as far as I know. You can still go to the site by clicking through but they will warn you about security etc etc.
Not sure if the new Microsoft Edge browser would install on the older system but we've been using it and I have to say so far it's pretty smooth and fast and we used to use Chrome on all our MacBooks.NRA Life Member

Certs come from the server yes, at least the host cert does. And any intermediate signing certs should be valid and also be chained in the cert that the server presents.Expired site certificates are from the site end not the browser software as far as I know. But how a browser will react to different variations of the certs in the chain is browser or app specific. Some browsers don't care if an intermediate cert is not included and will just retrieve it on the fly from the signing authority, but some browsers will bark at a missing or expired intermediate cert in the chain presented by the host.
Some of these apps and browsers are starting to get very picky about SSL certs and chains.
Good to know, thanks for the update!Comment
