    Surfboard died, Options needed.

This morning noticed I had no internet. My 6 yr old Motorola Surfboard modem/router/wifi died. So, I'm needing a replacement. Any suggestions on a replacement?

BTW.......how am I on the net? Plugged in the cheap modem that they left with me when I signed up for now expensive Spectrum, aka Charter.

    Another surfboard?

I would never use anything but a Mot cable modem. But I don't use all in one devices, so take it for what it's worth. Even at home I use enterprise gear behind my Mot cable modem. Cisco switches, Aerohive WAPs, Juniper router/firewall.

Holy crap! Mot modem? No clue, but I get the idea of component stereo systems. Piece together a system.

1 thing I didn't like about the Surfboard it put out a lot of heat. Heat really means a piss poor design, probably why it died.

Look at the netgear cable modem/routers. There are several options available depending on the speed of your service. I purchased the unit that is speed rated to 650MBS and it's absolutely flawless. Covers the whole home with WIFI and no degradation of speed.
