    Old CD question

I recently found an old picture CD. My laptop has a hard time showing the content of the CD, but it does show it. I try to copy the content off of the CD and my laptop cannot. I have occasionally been able to copy/open a pic.
Is there a program I can use to boost my chances to copy the content?

I'd simply try highlighting all the picture files, copy, then paste

So, can you view the photos or not? First you say it shows the content. Then you say it only spins up.

If you can open a photo, save the photo somewhere else. If you can view the files, highlight the files and copy/save somewhere else.

          Is the disk dirty?

          Have you tried another computer?

Select a certain amount of files to copy and see how many you can select at once before the drive stops responding. Being an old CD it won't take that long to copy everything.

Beat-up CD, Dirty Lens, worn-out drive, or the laser needs alignment (nobody ever does this AFAIK, but I hear it is a thing).

Try the disc in another machine, and if it works swap the CD drive out with something current for about $15-$25 (DVD-RW is probably about the same price and will read CDs too)...
