PC Repair advice, dead PS

Hey all, so about a week ago we had a short power outage, but my PC wouldn't reboot afterwards. Quick rundown of the machine-

Started life in 2010 as a dell I580, core I5 3.2ghz, 8gb ram, nvidia gt220 gpu, samsung 1tb HDD.

a few years later, I replaced the gt220 with a radeon 6870, replaced the factory 320w power supply with a corsair 650w, and installed a larger cpu cooler. Ran this way till last week without issues.

I tested the power supply by removing it and jumpering the green and black wires on the 24pin connector- no power, no fan, nothing. I ordered a new corsair 650w power supply and waited.

While the case was open, I blew out all of the dust, I reseated the CPU cooler with fresh thermal paste, threw in a new 2032 battery on the MB, and replaced the 4 2gb ram cards with 4 4gb cards. I installed the new power supply today.

Now when I turn on the power supply, a small red led on the MB lights up. Then when I press the power button, the power button lights up and all of the cooling fans kick on, I hear the HDD spin up to speed, then all the fans slow down to idle and theres no hdmi output to the monitor, or any other activity except a lashing light on the ethernet connector. just idling fans, spinning drive and nothing else.

Any advice on what to try next? I was really planning on cloning the HDD to a new larger SSD soon, now i'm worried that might not be possible any more.

Put the old ram back in and turn it on...

Do you get any keyboard lights, is the caps lock or numlock lights responsive after power on?

Try pulling all memory modules and install one of the old ones. Make sure that one is seated well.

You might also try installing the old video card just to see if you get any screen activity.

What is the simplest config that should work? Start with that. Pull the video card ( use mobo video out ), put in a single stick of the old RAM, see if it POSTs.

OK the keyboard caps lock and num lock lights are responding normally and the MB makes a click when i hit any key

I dont have the old graphics card, it was replaced in 2012

I'll try throwing the old ram back in for the hell of it. I did not use dell brand ram, if there is such a thing.

the factory ram in my pc was Elpida 2gb x 4 cards, I installed Duomeiqi 4gb cards that came from amazon with a high amount of good reviews

well crap, I just went to unplug everything to swap the RAM, and I realized that I had accidentally plugged my hdmi cord into the mobo instead of the graphics card.

Hooked the power and hdmi back to the correct ports, and she came back to life!

Thanks a ton! and a big Thanks to everyone who helped. I'll be cloning my HD soon, once the data is safe I'll see what kind of life remains in the mobo and processor

Never heard of that, mine seems to have regular old chinesium pc3 sticks.
