    Need some advice

So they have officially taken Win 7 out behind the barn and shot it in the head.
Time for me to upgrade. I intend to buy a new PC tower with Win 10 installed from the same outfit I dealt with and trusted for years. They do a clean OS install without bloatware. Except now they are three states away. So, I will have to transfer data, files, etc from my old PC to the new one.

My question is what is the best tool to do this? I have read about Windows Easy Transfer that is onboard Win 7 but not Win 10, and there is obviously third party software. Advice and opinions much appreciated.

    Windows 7 to 10

There are a few ways to do it. If you have an external hard drive this is how I am planning on doing it. Both windows 7 and 10 have utilities that facilitate this process. I googled "best way to transfer files from win 7 to win 10"

Before you shut down old PC, export Chrome/IE favorites to a file.

Remove your drive from old PC and mount in a $10 external USB enclosure. Plug in to new PC and copy over all the files/folders you want to preserve.

Import favorites from the files you exported.
