Windows 10 - can't see Audio Files in Folder

Trying to change the default sound for New Mail Notification in my Dell laptop running Windows 10. When I open Sound in the Control Panel, click on Sounds, then Browse my folders with Audio Files, the folder shows 12.1 MB of Read Only files in Properties but when the file is opened, the files are not showing. If I open the same folder from where it's located on my Desktop, the files are visible.

    Control Panel?

My Windows 10 doesn't have that. Settings perhaps?

When I click on Start, Control Panel is there on the right by PC Settings, Devices & Printers, etc.

Hit start and type in 'control' without the quotes and you'll see it. I hate the brain dead settings menu and use the control panel exclusively. I added the control panel to my start menu as well as the command prompt (cmd).

They have to be in an audio format Windows recognizes. What are they? WAV? ASF? MP3?

Got to Window Settings, no control panel there.

Must be different releases or versions of Windows 10.

They're MP3 format - is that the issue?
Edit - just searched and found out Sounds used within the Windows 10 operating system must be in the WAV format - Thanks for the clue.

Are those audio files in WAV format? The sound control panel notifications settings only recognize WAV files.

                      Thanks, found it.

                      I prefer the current one.
