My TV is about the same size and I use it as a monitor I'm about 8 feet away on a couch and it works great. At 30 inches you will probably be moving your head to see side to side and up and down.

I will try it first. If I find my self going to bed with neck pain I will find a way to move it farther away.

Choosing a new TV for your room can be a daunting challenge. The market has never been more complicated, with dozens of new models released each year and a mountain of marketing jargon to work through.

I am sure the chart is to optimize viewing of video, not reading text. I tried the TV on a PC but the video card could only do 1080x720. The text was readable from normal TV viewing distance. I will be driving the TV at its native 3480x2160. Makes for smaller text. I may need to be closer.

I have two 48” 4K Vizios that I use as desktop monitors....probably about 24” from my eyes...they work great and I’ve never felt that they were “too’” big or awkward to use in any way...no neck or eye strain either.

I've used an old Sony 43" and various Vizios with laptop HDMI output and Lenovo HDMI stick PC's (Win10)... Lately using a 75" LG for Shield games and web browser once in a while. It usually works well, not sure if the LG is in 4K mode for games or not - they look clear. Probably the best way to play Hungry Shark Evolution, hahah. Built-in Web browser is pretty nice for lookmovie.ag or similar sites that kind of replace KODI, but would be faster to navigate on a PC connected.

I guess you'd have to try it to see if it is useable. I can sit on the couch and use an air mouse and wireless keyboard, but I'd rather sit in front of a typical PC desk with mouse and keyb right under the monitors. I have relatively small ultra wide monitors, but I think I like playing PC games on those right in front of me more than a huge tv.

I have a 32" gaming monitor, and I'm about 30" away. Sometimes, I think THAT'S too much. Don't think I could handle a 65" TV at that distance for sure.

If your monitor is the typical distance away of about 24", then 65" is going to be way, way too big. I do CAD work and have a 30" at 24" away and it's just about right. I could go a little bit larger, but no way would I go 50 or 65.

Just measured. Eyeball to screen is 45”. TV is on a table behind the desk. This lets me use the whole desktop for ‘important’ papers.

45 inches away sounds more practical.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.
