Google Photos - Photos and Albums Question

I must be missing something, since Google Photos seems unable to perform a VERY basic function. That being, MOVING a photo from the default main "photos" page to an album. My situation is this.

My main photos page has hundreds of photos. I put many into albums. I take more photos, say over a period of a month or so. I want to place those new photos into albums. However, there is no way to distinguish what photos were ALREADY put into the album because they never leave (move) from the Photos page.

My photos page contains EVERY single pic I ever took, even if every one is an album (or two), making it all but impossible to find NEW photos SINCE the last time I assigned some to an album. I expect this is by design (tagging), but unless I am missing something, it makes organizing and keeping my main photos page "clean" impossible.

I think you need to "archive" them once you assign them to an album.

I don't think they move from the main page.
If you make an album, the originals stay on the main page, but the ones you move still remain on the main page.
I don't think you are using more space, new photos are just tagged to whatever folder.
