OTA digital to analog converter for tv

can anyone suggest a good over the air digital to analog tv converter. I have a analog tv at work that refuses to die. i am open to replacing it with a flatscreen that has a digital tuner that works good. i already have a indoor powered antenna . the current rca converter box is on its last leg.

Los Angeles folks using the tuner in their TV to get the Over The Air TV signals need to have their TV scan for channels Sunday after 12:00.

The channel numbers are not changing, just the frequencies being used. I have seen the notice on KTLA and the CBS station.

Cable, FIOS and satellite users can disregard.

I'll chime in to suggest a digital converter box by Mediasonic which can be purchased on Amazon for around $40.

The reason why I chose this particular box was because it can record TV broadcasts to an external HDD (a flash drive is not recommended and did not work for me). If you happen to get a new TV, this box could be used to record one channel while you watch another.

During my 5 year ownership experience, I had the box go dead right outside the return window (less than 1 year). Since I figured I had nothing to lose by opening it up, I found that one of the capacitors had started leaking - a $2.00 replacement got it up and running till the present day. Additionally, I've found that this gets better reception than this other box I have with the same set-up.

If you don't need the recording function, I might suggest buying a new TV as it is not much more than this converter box (a basic 32" TV can be had for around $100)...Unless you've got some retro games that use a light gun .

update: i did buy and install the mediasonic unit. AWESOME picture. the signal strength improved and has great stereo . nice unit for the price.
