Just thought I'd pass this fix along, as I have never really had issues with PDFs or web page audio (youtube, etc), but it was almost unusable recently, and I had to use Chrome, or "Internet Exploder" (shudder) for the last month or so. I even installed the new Firefox Betas thinking it was a glitch in the version I was running (current) and updates (even to current-beta) did not fix.
Firefox Refresh fixed both issues, and I thought the audio might be a driver issue, on Win10 w/ my 10+ year old hardware. as 10 was recently clean-installed.
Refresh kept saved passwords too.
