"Pearl" Linux? Pear Linux OS has a better spin-off, OR a thumbed-nose?!

In doing a search for Pear Linux, I noticed Distrowatch had "Pearl" Linux and "Last Update: 2018-07-19 21:51"

Installed it in <6 minutes(or I lost track of time?) after a ~3 minute Rufus ISO-to-Flash-stick drop, and WOW! I'm back in Pear-ish Linux-GUI Business!!!

Live Distro like Pear, AND install-able.

I noticed a few weird artifacts/missing info, but after changing the colors, NOT TEA BAG!

It appears Compiz effects are default, and wobbly windows working like fluid, not to mention the response times, OOTB even running from a USB stick on a Core2 Duo.

EDIT: It looks like the application launcher in Pearl Linux Desktop 7.1 might be horked, but checking other builds of this now...

I like the debianness of ubuntu, ubuntu mate works well for me. Also slick via RDP for any VM users ...

I dipped a toe into Linux starting with Ubuntu 10 back in the day and have Mint 18 w/Mate desktop now. I'll never buy any OS again. I have forever spat out the MS OS teat.

        I use:
        Puppy Linux
        Mint
        Tails

I've used Slackware for probably 18 years as my lean-mean (single-proc, and works great with <2GB or RAM, as it always has) no GUI OS for odds-and-ends, Knoppix for utility use, and doinked around with multiple other flavors for tinkering.

I supported 1800-2000 Windows users running Pear Linux OS for something like 6 months to a year. Pear got paid by someone for the rights it seems, and everyone thinks it was Apple, to stop development.

It looks like there is a more polished and functional Live Distro: PearlDesktop-7.1_amd64.iso which I installed on my T400, and it appears to work VERY well. This might be my daily driver for hotel use when traveling, providing it can stream pr0nhub vids well... More testing will tell.
          EDIT: pr0nhub works fine...

I suggest if you are a Linux connoisseur, check this out, even if just running from a USB stick.

This is the most responsive and polished distro I have ever tried with Compiz features working flawlessly out of the box.

          Edit2, free:
          Code:
total used free shared buff/cache available
          Mem: 3931624 416288 2272172 100012 1243164 3176184
          Swap: 2097148 0 2097148
Some bibletime application is preinstalled, which I don't mind if the OS is free, and that is the only application I removed so far...
It looks like I need to dig into grub, being a lilo Slackware user for so long, so I can decrease boot-choice timeout, and there is a loud Ding-dong during login I need to... resolve.

It looks like the install of PearlDesktop-7.1_amd64.iso can get stuck on stupid if you close the lid on a T400 wile it's running, and doesn't want to wake up all the time... but seems to work GREAT other than that, spinning cube Compiz w/4-dekstops and all-flawless.
